One Injured In Stamford Structure Collapse

A person was hospitalized after a partial collapse during the demolition of a building in Stamford on Monday afternoon.

Crews from the Stamford Fire Department responded to the vacant building at 860 Canal Street on Monday morning, where there was a report of the partial collapse and an injured worker at the construction site, where demolition work has been ongoing.

Officials said that the worker was removed by firefighters who used a tower ladder, and he was transported by paramedics with the Stamford E.M.S. for treatment on what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. His condition was not immediately available at 5 p.m. on Monday.

The 90,000-square-foot building had been vacant and sold late last year for more than $7.5 million to a firm that plans to build a production facility in the area.

The cause of the collapse is currently under investigation.
